Any boaters near Russellville?

Post by BoofsOnBoofs » Sun Mar 19, 2017 1:06 pm

Hey guys, I'll be working in Russellville for probably the next month or two. I was wondering if it will be worth it to bring my boat or not. I am essentially stuck to afternoons as I don't have a lot of feeetime but I am always free after 5pm. Would anybody be willing to show me around on your local gems? I'm comfortable and self sufficient on III-IV+. I come from Knoxville, TN where I'm used to running plateau style runs like you guys have out here. Would love to see a park and play spot. Let me know! Thanks!

Lots of boaters in that area. Lots of runs to hit. Closest is Illinois Bayou over north of Hector. It's running at a low level now. Richland (III-IV) is up north. Big Piney is on the way to Richland. Will need some rain to bring stuff back. Here's a page to check runs and levels.

like rogers said, there's plenty of boating when the water is here. check the ozark whiewater gage when we get rain & also the arkansas whiewater coalition on facebook. when richland is running, there's usually a good group up there you can hook up with. The nearest park & play is at rockport (I-30 near malvern) or the siloam springs ww park in NW AR.

The cossatot in SW AR ia about a 4hr drive but usually runs for a few days after a good rain.

good luck, ty

The best after work play run around here is going to be putting in on the North Fork of Illinois Bayou on Granny Gap Rd then paddling a couple hundred yards to the bayou and taking out at Scottsville bridge.
