Fiberglass Repair

Post by David C » Mon Dec 19, 2016 2:39 pm

I have a fiberglass Supreme trout/river boat that has started to show wear through the gray paint on the inside of the boat in high traffic area. Does anyone have recommendations for the type of paint and process for painting the inside of a fiberglass boat?

Hey David, I hadn't heard of the Supreme boats before, but after taking a look at their website I must say they look like a really decent well-made boat with lot's of good features. Since the factory is here in Arkansas, I would start by visiting with them about the paint type. I don't know if your boat's interior is of a solid color that could be fairly closely matched with a good off the shelf quality spray enamel paint or not, but I did notice the current models they make all have a 'speckled' interior which might be a bit more complicated to match well. Whatever the case, I know that with tracking sand and grit in the boat, the floor might need a touch-up every few years.
The Supreme website also lists the repair/refurbishment details offered for boats brought back to their facility. Carpet was one of the things they offer and that might also be an option.

Best Regards
Jim
