ILLINOIS RIVER CLEAN-UP: CHAMBER SPRINGS TO SSKP

Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to let you know about the clean-up happening October 1, 2016 from 9am-2pm. We will be floating 7.5mi of river picking up all the trash we can get. Gary with Love to Float Outfitters will have boats for rent and help run shuttles for us(see times for shuttle when you register). Last year was great and we got quite a bit of refuse, I can assure you that this clean-up is much needed. This will be a great opportunity for us to get together and I hope to see a lot of new faces. Also, a huge thank you to Becky Roark with IRWP, the ACC and Love to Float Outfitters for making this happen and so easy to participate. PLEASE COME AND JOIN US!!!!

We got started a little late, so we had to scrounge around a bit to find any trash.

The fellow in the photo (Rob?) with us dragged this cart up a dry stream bed to Old 68 after we floated it grow where the lady in the yak (didn't catch her name) found it. The photo was taken by another fellow paddling a solo canoe. Ron was passing a yak with his young son, I believe.

By the time we got to the takeout, we had picked a car tire and about half a construction trash sack of other stuff.

I wonder if anybody found Debi's iPhone from a couple weeks back?

I just wanted to say thank you to all who participated in the Clean-Up! Another big thanks to Gary -n- the fellas at Love to Float Outfitters and Becky -n- crew With IRWP for really making this possible. Just goes to show what a little love and elbow grease can do. Not only did I see two Bald Eagles (one that got a nice small mouth from the river) but also got thank you's from fisherman and some land lubbers for what we were doing. THANKS AGAIN!!!
