Informal Roll Practice in two locations

Date: Sunday, July 24th
Initial Meet-up Time: 1:00 – 3:00 PM
Initial Meeting Location: Lake Wedington Recreation Area, Siloam Springs, AR
Google Address: 15592 Lake Wedington Entry Road, Fayetteville, AR 72704

Second Meet-up Time: 2:30 pm to whenever
Second Meet-up Location: Siloam Springs Kayak Park
Google Address: 19253 Fisher Ford Road, Siloam Springs, AR 72761

A fun day for paddlers wanting to develop a Consistent Flat Water Roll and/or develop a Solid Combat Roll in moving water.

This is a leaderless, informal practice for Rolls and T-Rescues for paddlers with a partial or inconsistent roll. This is NOT a Roll Class or session. There are no instructors scheduled and no formal instruction offered.

The primary hope is for a group with an inconsistent roll to Encourage each other, T-Rescue and help recover boats & paddles so it’s not so tiring! Instructors are welcome to come if they want to offer any critique and positive reinforcement. ;-)

We will meet at Lake Wedington Recreation Area for a short paddle to practice flat-water rolls, then drive 11 miles to Siloam Springs Kayak Park and practice combat rolls in the swift water. Feel free to attend either or both parts of the day.

To complete the suggested 30+ practice rolls during a work-out day, many paddlers are much more comfortable practicing in Flat Water first. The Illinois River area above the SSKP Wave is to shallow in places for group practice, plus it’s congested with people. So we will start at the lake to have a warm-up practice or a time for those only wishing to do Flat Water.

My personal goal is to ROCK A SOLID, CONSISTENT, Combat roll by Year End!!!
I WILL DO IT!

All participants in Arkansas Canoe Club trips do so as common adventurers. The club or its individual members may coordinate paddling trips but no one is considered leader of a trip. All participants take the responsibility for making their own decisions including, but not limited to, whether to participate on any particular water body or section, what equipment they use, the routes they may choose to paddle, whether their skill levels and abilities are appropriate for the activity or whether climate and water conditions are appropriate for their participation. In choosing to participate in any posted trip, I acknowledged that paddling, like many sports, has inherent dangers which can be minimized through education and experience, but cannot be totally eliminated I hereby, for myself, my heirs, executers, and administrators waive any and all rights and claims for damage I may have against the ACC, its officers and representatives for injuries suffered by me in ACC activities.
