Big Piney Creek - Fort Douglas (AR 123) to Helton's Farm low flow

Post by needsham » Sun Apr 10, 2016 8:47 pm

Hello everybody,

I was thinking about running Big Piney Creek from the AR 123 bridge down to Helton's Farm next weekend. My book says it's not runnable under 2.5 feet. But I know sometimes these things are estimaged on the high side, so I was just wondering it's runnable at it's current level of 1.5-1.7 feet? We'd be in a 17 ft aluminum Grumman flatback canoe and 2 river kayaks (not whitewater kayaks). Any info about this section would be super helpful. Thanks!

Don't do it. Need higher flow the higher up you get. Unless you want to do a lot of dragging.
