Improvements to the Siloam Springs Kayak Park

Post by paddledog » Mon Aug 10, 2015 6:46 am

I have spoken to the engineering company as well as the construction crew foreman,
and they are going to wait until after our Aug. 15th event to begin the tweeks to the park.
Expect the park to shut down and be closed to the public for approx. a week, with some
equipment deliveries beforehand.
I will post more as the schedule is finalized.

Sorry Santa,
I just saw your post.
I hope you are asking about the event this Sat. and not the tweeks coming afterwards.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.........

That is good to hear! I hope they can really get those waves dialed in. Top-notch park for sure.

Steve,

What are the "tweeks" going to be? It may have been covered in the last ACC meeting, but I missed it. Are there any details at this time?

There is a laundry list of things to be done.
They have been prioritized and will be completed for as far a monies will allow.

Will the park be open this Sunday? Assume they won't start working on it until at least Monday??

Thanks,

Mike P.

Mike. In order to have your questions answered, you have to show up tomorrow, give Steve the secret handshake. Answer a few riddles, do a secret dance, and then maybe get your questions answered.....maybe. Good luck!

I've heard rumors they are removing all those boulders and cement that is causing the water to dam up and consolidate through the few drops, and bringing in more gravel to shallow up those pools. Thank goodness, since I've noticed it's really challenging to swim there now with all that current. Last Saturday the place was a mess with boats and even though I was wearing blue jeans and a bright white t-shirt, I kept getting hit with paddles and ropes every time I tried to float through the drops with a bottle of beer. Maybe if they took out the parking lot, it would be less crowded...

...seriously though. Cory is practically doing somersaults on the top wave out there after only a year. Is that not the coolest place? It'll only get better.

Yea the Kayak Park is alright , I guess. I've only learned how to roll, surf, catch an eddy, peel out, ferry, and to land on my head trying to loop out there.
In all seriousness, If anyone isn't taking advantage of it while we have no rivers to run are really missing out.
I look forward to the improvements but there is much more out there than learning a "Front Surf".
My Favorite River is the one that I'm paddling.

Cory
