Feedback on L3 Swiftwater Rescue Class - Saturday, 8/1

Post by LarryT » Mon Aug 03, 2015 6:36 am

Last Saturday my wife and I took a swift water rescue class at SSKP led by Rob Moody / Steve Runnels (sp) and with two helpers. While I have been paddling at some level for a few years this was my first swift water rescue class. The age of participants ranged from teenagers to really old (me).

The class was excellent. Methodically going through teaching segments and scenarios over 75% of what was covered was new to me and very useful. My wife who is very afraid of water recently got her first whitewater boat and is slowly getting her confidence in paddling. She was very apprehensive going into the class. She was very pleased with the class. While some of the drills were hard for her, she completed all of them at some level and always felt the instructors and helpers were putting safety first. Because of this positive experience she is ready for more. Today she is taking another class at Beaver Lake on paddling led by Rob.

I would highly recommend the L3 class in general and specifically these instructors. On to level four!

Larry,
You and your wife both performed well in one of my favorite classes so far this summer. While the L3 is only
one day, it is packed with all the basics. We even managed to throw in a few extra subjects because the class
went so smoothly we were ahead of time.
I watched your wife's confidence grow through out the day. By the time we ran the last scenario, the whole
class was working together to solve problems.
Remember that anyone who has been through one of our classes is welcome to come back and volunteer to help
with our other classes.

Thanks to everyone involved,
Steve
