Hello All,
I am new to the forums and new to canoeing/kayaking. My family is loving it.
In our search for a canoe we were given a canvas covered, well, I'd say canoe. It has no distinguishing marks and I have never seen one before. I am posting it here in hopes that someone on the forum might have some information about it.
It has a canvas cover and appears to come apart in the center. To be removed from the canvas I assume. I am looking to see about getting it recovered and the bottom sealed so it could be water worthy again.
Any information or advice would greatly be appreciated.
Jay

It looks like a folding kayak. Three models come to mind.

Although it is probably a much older version.
It could be a very old http://feathercraft.com/kayaks/k2-expedition/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Good luck in restoring it.

I also agree with Mark about it being a Folboat kayak. It would be interesting to see what can be learned from any markings on the boat as to it's date of manufacture and so forth. From what can be seen, the shape of the frame looks in good condition, and also what little of the frame that can be viewed inside the cockpit opening, but the canvas covering looks like it certainly needs to be replaced.
I had a friend once who inherited a late nineteen twenties or early thirties Old Town wood and canvas canoe. He then found out that the covering was still available, so he and his daughter made quite a project out of restoring it.
Best Regards
Jim

A good resource for anything wood/canvas is the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association:
http://www.wcha.org
They have a very useful forum and knowledge base that deals with identification, construction, and restoration of wood canvas, wood strip, wood canoes and kayaks.
