Surprise Paddler at Fisher Ford - Updated Below

Post by LarryT » Thu Apr 09, 2015 9:00 pm

I was the only kayaker at the whitewater park tonight. Weather was great and water was at a good level. While there the son of the engineer / designer of the whitewater park pulled up. He is on a two month journey across the US and stopped at the park his dad designed. He was an expert on SUP. He will be back their tomorrow morning and evening. He was a very nice guy and was curious about the area.

The young man was back at the park on Friday morning and evening. He told me he talked with his dad and sent him several pictures with input for changes. His primary feedback was about the lower wave. His dad said there are plans to make changes this fall. The young man was a factory sponsored paddler with SUP gear.

Thanks Larry- good to know it's gonna happen. I hope while they are in the river, they can also address the gravel build up in the top pool. I think most of the gravel is from the pad they had under the bridge during construction. When the bridge was finished, they didn't haul all that gravel away, they pushed most into the river above the park. With it being mostly bedrock out there, I think if they would remove what is there, it would be a long time before that much gravel would build up again naturally. -M- :twocents:

The "ever changing" top wave was perfect for me today @3.28. -M-

Same here, had to fight to get off of it.

Back wave was a wild ride as well.
