24th Annual Mulberry River Spring Clean Up Day

Post by Brad Wimberly » Mon Jan 26, 2015 6:11 pm

Saturday February 28 is the date for this spring's river clean up on the Mulberry. Last year close to 200 volunteers took part in what turned out to be one of the best efforts to date. The newly formed Mulberry River Society will be helping with the organization and expense for the first time and the help is much appreciated. Check out the MRS at http://www.mulberryriversociety.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. The Mulberry River Clean Up Day is a finalist for this year's Outstanding Volunteer Service Award which will be awarded by the Dept of Parks and Tourism in March. We will have good music, great food, and lots of door prizes. Call Turner Bend at 479-667-3641 for details on the clean up. Come join us.

It would be great to see a rejuvinated level of participation from the ACC in this annual event. Turner Bend has been the home of our annual whitewater school for, well, pretty much forever. And, Brad and his family and crew have been our most generous hosts.

If you live in the vicinity and can make it out for one 1/2 day of trash pickup, either on the river, on the roads or at the access points, it will be muchly appreciated.

The use of the Mulberry and Ozark National Forest area is increasing more and more each year. Projects like this one help to keep the area nice but also serve to educate people how to be better stewards.

Our club and its members are great to help set a good example all over the state! See you on the 28th at the Bend!

It says on the Turner Bend website, that this Saturdays Mulberry cleanup might get postponed due to weather until the Saturday before the jungle boat races. They'll decide Wednesday or Thursday. -M-

I say, and I intend it emphatically, let the river be.

As long as I can remember, the clean up has been the first weekend in March. This is what happens when you buck tradition. :myday"

Hello Everyone!

I didn't have my camera with me going down the river due to it being in the way and the rapids were decent but I brought it out for the after party. I sent the pictures to the Mulberry River Society.

Glad to see some of the ACC members/Chapter Presidents there and appreciate the lift back from Dennis!
