north east ar info needed
Ok..... so on a hiking excursion I discovered a possible creek run in a canyon. Its always dry until flood conditions. There is possibly several good Class III drops. The last flood we had in the area I scouted from cliff tops and looks runable. The creek is called hall's creek. And the canyon formation is called needles eye. Was wondering if any one had ever ran this? Also I was wondering if anyone would like to help me scout it when it's down and walkable. If this spot pans out its the only class three in my area of northeast Ar. I however am new to whitewater kayaking and don't know how to gauge stuff well. So it being a three is pure speculation on my behalf. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

If I do that it won't even rain lol.magicmike wrote:Shawn- my brother in law is from Pocahontas, I'll holler at him and see if he knows anything about it. -M-

Awesome! I did an altimeter Dry walk the other day. Said it was just under a quarter mile. And dropping around 30 feet in that distance. Keep in mind this was done with a cell phone app without service in area so it was running from satellite. Heard this was least accurate. Run could be lengthened by starting up stream further. But there's a dam that has to be portaged I would assume it makes a bad hole. I have pics on my phone but don't know how to post em.CSH wrote:I'm interested in checking it out sometime.

I have been trying to load some pictures since last night. Only internet I have is my phone and it won't let me load them. I will try to post some pics asap. Or if someone wants me to text them to them I could do that also. Next flood we get in the area will bring this up to runable. For probably a day or so. Not much of a watershed to this place.

If you are using an iPhone try the tapatalk app. It makes viewing the board and posting pics a lot easier on a phone.

Down stream side of first drop. Boulders are about 8ft tall. Hard to judge size from these photos

Not too surprised that you found something like that up there in the northeast part of our state. If you continue in a northeastern direction on to Illinois, you will come to a geographical feature called Garden of The Gods. Here's a shot of the area:

There is the theory that this area in Southern Illlinois is simply a part/extension of the Ozark Plateau.
