Course is full CPR/AED course January 30th in NWA

Post by OzarkTom » Tue Jan 13, 2015 4:36 pm

COURSE IS FULL, we will be offering additional ones. Please let us know if you are interestedHi Folks,

We will be offering a CPR certification course on Jan 30th in Winslow (about 25 min south of Fayetteville) at the Old Winslow High School.

The course will start at 5pm and will last approximately 3 hrs.

If you've not taken our CPR course, you probably paddle with someone who has! We bring a very real world approach to our courses and you will be pleasantly surprised to discover that CPR can actually be a fun class!
The certification is through nationally accredited ASHI and is current for two years.

If you are interested in participating, please contact me ASAP at 479-595-1655 or at SwiftwaterRescue@gmail.com, as these typically fill very quickly and will be capped at 12 participants. The course fee is 40.00, and if you are a current ACC member, contact your chapter president about reimbursement opportunities.

Best Regards,

Tom

Isn't CPR covered at the state level, or is that over with?

Just a quick clarification, the actual funds are reimbursed to the chapter by the state. This helps lessen the load on the state treasurer.

The ACC has for three or four years has approved having CPR at no charge to the members. Tom is correct, it's arranged through the chapters. If the chapter will send a request to Treasurer Mike Sullivan letting us know how many attended, he will send a check to either the entity putting on the course, or to the chapter if the chapter fronted the money.

Thank you chapters for helping get your members the training they need! The board must re-authorize this each year, so let your chapter representatives know if this something you would like to see continued.

I highly recommend every paddler take this and other similar CPR classes sponsored by our club. Not only is it a fully accredited CPR course, the additional instructions for situations specific to our sport made it so very applicable to what we can very well encounter. And to those of us who've experienced loss of friends, the process of learning and executing the life saving techniques makes it very near and dear to our hearts. And, the cost was completely covered by our chapter!

Great course, learned a lot in a fun group. Thanks Tom and Lorrain for your time and effort on something so important. Thanks to the Northwest Chapter for having voted to cover the cost of this course. I hope the other chapters do likewise.-M-

I agree, the course was much better (or more focused on paddling) then what I took at Washington Regional Hospital a few years back.

This is not a chapter covered event. This is paid for by the state, so thank your board members and let them know how much you appreciate it.
