Wattensaw Canoe Trail
Wattensaw Canoe Trail
Hello everyone, got a quick question. Under normal conditions on the Wattensaw canoe trail can you paddle both ways without much problem?
Re: Wattensaw Canoe Trail
Yes, under normal conditions the current is very slow and you can paddle out and back if you can't set a shuttle at the middle boat ramp.

Thanks,
How do water levels hold up during dryer parts of year. Is it still floatable or need to wait for some rain.

Debo can speak with more authority about that stretch during dryer parts of the year.
My notes said we floated it on the following dates and the White River gage at DeValls Bluff said...
27 Oct 13
4.91 feet
North road to Firetower road.
02 Nov 13
4.66 feet
Out and back from north road. No reason couldn't have continued downstream.
14 Dec 13
8.36 feet
Lots of water flowing due to perfect rainfall so we put on at Hwy 11 and took out at North Road.

Re: Wattensaw Canoe Trail
Went yesterday and paddled from the north road to within about a half mile of Robinwood road access before turning back. Was nice temps and believe it or not mosquitoes were not trying to carry me off. Horse flys were a different story. Water level was fine and was a good float.
Does anyone know if that water spreads outside of the actual water trail pretty often in winter. Gonna try and get to some harder to access spots with the canoe there to do some deer hunting this year.

We went once back in 2012 when the DeValls Bluff gauge was at 20.2. Wattensaw had a lot of backup from the White and there were entire areas opened up to exploring. You were really up into the railroad trestle too.
