Post by datsevlu » Thu Sep 04, 2014 6:10 pm

Just like it says, most of the time I use a sharpie to label all my gear with my name and phone #, how do you guys do this on a all carbon all Black paddle?

Silver paint Sharpie! Although, sharpie just came out with gold and neon colors. I wonder how they will work.

Just a friendly reminder that black paddles are very hard to spot when lost. The best insurance against loss is some bright colors in a few places. BOB

Prairie Tater a/k/a Terry Prater ought to be all over this. I think he writes his contact information on the black blade with a silver sharpie and then puts a couple of coats of clear lacquer over that. Whatever he does, it works. Terry?

Where you put it is important also.
Next to the rib, tucked down in the crease is best.
It's always funny to see someone write it on the tip......

I don't put my name on any of my paddling gear. I figure if I loose it, nobody wants my name on their new stuff!

OK, davidbob, you axed for it, so here it is: Print contact info on standard copy paper. Use clear two-part epoxy (Loctite, etc.) to glue the info to the paddle. When that dries, put 3-4 coats on top of it...very simple. See photo. :canoe:

Duct tape and sharpy! If someone wants to steal it, they don't care how "permanent "the info is. And for the folks that want to return it, they don't care how "temporary" it is.-M-
