Any interest ??? Hendrix pool in Conway.

845p is way better than 5p. At least for us. Not that I'd drive to Conway though.

Re: Any interest ??? Hendrix pool in Conway.
Cowper and I met with UCA faculty/staff in the Outdoor Recreation and Aquatics Programs yesterday to discuss the possibility of having pool sessions at UCA. They are adding kayaking to their Outdoor Rec Program and are in the final phase of construction for their new HPER building, which will house a new pool. They are excited about these changes and seem receptive to the idea of integrating with the paddling community, especially if we are willing to help interested UCA students and faculty develop their paddling skills. The new pool is scheduled to open sometime in November (2014), and the current plan is for a group of paddlers in the Conway area to help kick-start their new program by bringing our kayaks and giving an introductory session on kayaking at the new pool for interested students and faculty. Further discussions about the pool sessions should follow the opening of the new pool.

I could help at UCA from time to time. I could not break down all the variants of a roll like Cowper but could help people get started in the right direction.

Hi, any news on this??
I am a hendrix student and can get in touch with pool staff if need be.. otherwise if UCA is available i'd like to get some sessions going...

If you can make any headway at Hendrix, that would be great. We did not get very far with UCA because their new pool is pretty much booked solid with college activities.

Think about this. More is not always better. More people in Conway means less people at UALR. Less participation at UALR might lead to reduced or no access due to lack of engagement on both sides. Just thinking out loud.

Sort of my theory on reduced attendance at Rendezvous. Surf N Turf in July on top of Home Town Throw Down events and just regular easy access at Rockport made Rendezvous just not that big of an attraction anymore. Again, just thinking out loud. 15 years ago Rendezvous was a BIG deal. I recall TV stations coming out to cover it. Senator Mark Pryor came and spoke, although he may have been A.G. then. It lost it's luster mainly when scheduled and guaranteed releases were enacted. Not that I am saying that was a bad idea! Just noting that one good effort sometimes negatively affects another good effort.
