Sea Apple Trees on the Buffalo?
Sea Apple Trees on the Buffalo?
Scientific name is (Syzygium Grande). They are native to Malaysia, but were in simultaneous bloom yesterday from Ponca to Kyles. USDA website says they've never been reported in Arkansas. Anyone know anything about this, or of a similar native species it could have been? -M-

They don't look like Button-bush. Turn this query over to Potameid. She (Angela) will find out if she doesn't know. It's her JOB on the ACC forum to handle plant ID requests.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they weren't button bush, but that was suggested as a possibility. The pictures I posted are from online, because I didn't have a camera or my phone. The only thing I can find online that matches the plants I saw is sea apple. The picture on the bottom above is exactly the the sort of flowers and fruit that were on the plants I saw. Sure wish now I had a camera.-M-

How odd! I was on the R to R float yesterday and was keeping an eye out for trash. I spotted what looked like trash floating, but when I went to it, I noticed a strange bloom I'd never seen before. It looked exactly like the second photo.
