I made this float on 2 occasions recently.
It is a short float and one that I do when visiting a friend of mine in Jasper.
Anyway... The no trash containers at both Hasty and Carver is ridiculous!
Really Park Service?? Where do the visitor's put their trash?
I can assist you with this... In the woods, down the toilet facility, on the ground.
There is a sign on the door of the restroom at Carver landing that reads... Please do not put trash into the toilet, it is hard to clean. Really!
It is time to rethink this and find some money in the budget to put the containers back on the landings!
Seriously...

Well, the National Park Service is spending $41K for a mobile app announcing Old Faithful’s eruptions. They have their priorities.

Your right but this is the National River.
Makes no sense to invite people to do the wrong thing and dispose of their trash in the wrong way just because there are no trash containers. And, SOME are already doing it!
Seriously, the First River in the Nation to be designated a National River and the Park Service cannot afford to hire someone to empty trash containers?
You must be kidding me.
Too bad there will be no place to leave behind the protest banners.

Are you sure it is OK to discuss this here?hollohead wrote:Your just being mean Canoe codger, the Feds are always efficient, accountable, effective, and just so darn nice. We need to all thank our lucky stars they are here to help.
Well, it is more important that the Yellowstone visitors have an app on their smartphones since the live web feed, the monitor in the visitor center and the twitter feed are so obscure and hard to access. And really, with only one and a half million annual visitors to BNR (according to some sources), sanitation should not be an issue. I mean it isn't like these visitors are defecating, urinating and tossing their trash into Old Faithful. This is just a backwater, remote park... the Buffalo-Porcine river. It is only NATURAL that funds be stripped from BNR and spent on bigger, more popular parks elsewhere. Now about those gravel bar blowlogs...
