The Ozarks River Stewards are leading another protest float to call attention to the danger of an industrial hog farm that was built and is now operation in the watershed of the Buffalo River.
On Saturday, July 5th (weather permitting), we will again decorate our boats with signs, banners, pennants and balloons- whatever it takes to stand out on the river. Our mission is to let people know about C&H Hog Farm and why this kind of facility has shown time and time again to degrade watersheds. Many paddlers are still unaware of the danger of polluted water and algae blooms that come with land application of hog waste and additional leakage from open lagoons.
We will again meet at Grinder's Ferry around 8:00 am to begin decorating our canoes and kayaks, and will aim to launch no later than 9 or 10 depending on how many people want help with shuttles. If there is interest, we will have two groups, one going down to Baker Ford and floating back to Grinder's Ferry, and a second group doing the shorter float to Gilbert. We will again be handing out plastic information cards and stickers to anyone wishing to know more. We'll have extra signs and banners to share if needed,
Some of us plan to camp on the gravel bar there at GF and will be going down early to stake out a spot. We will make room for others if you want to join us. For more information, visit http://www.SavetheBuffaloRiver.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or email me lin@linwellford.com

The Ozark River Stewards have been at the Fayetteville Farmer's Market with their signs. Not sure if they will be there this Sunday because of the Protest Float the day before.
You can contact me at Linwellford@gmail.com and I'll see if I can put you in touch with a member in Fayetteville to pick up signs. We also have stickers. Our website is http://www.SavetheBuffaloRiver.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and our Facebook page is under Ozark River Stewards. If you want to get involved in standing up to Cargill and their plan to move into AR with these factory hog farms, join us!
