Kyle's Landing

Post by Deuce » Thu Apr 10, 2014 11:32 am

Hypothetically speaking, IF I were to set up camp at Spring Creek next Thursday evening (17th) and IF I were to stay there until Saturday evening would anyone care to join me? I can't say with certainty this will happen, but if it does the itinerary will be something like this:

Arrive Thursday just in time to be set up with a fire going by dark or shortly thereafter. Put a canoe in the water at or above Spring Creek Friday and float fish down to Rush. Do it again Saturday then pack up and go home.

If this is something you find appealing and feasible you know where to find me. :canoe:

Are you planning on cooking in your D.O. if so and if I'm not on the St. Francis paddling I might come down there from Flippin. I also have two 10" D.O. been wanting to do some cooking in them.

Absolutely. Or, as they said in Raising Arizona, "Does the Pope wear a funny hat?" Rumor has it my good friend and Dutch Oven virtuoso Wes Holden will be there as well.

Re: NO LONGER Hypothetically Speaking: Spring Creek

I've been a good boy so Mrs. Deuce gave me a yard pass. I think she's forgotten how much I'll be gone over the next couple of months but that's neither here nor there. I plan to leave central Arkansas ASAP Thursday afternoon. I'll sneak out of the salt mine around 3:00 and will have to change and throw a boat on the truck, so a 4:00 departure should be realistic. Spring Creek will be home base and we can discuss float plans around the fire. Just to clarify; this will be a base camp and day float trip, not float camping. At this point I believe Richard and Wes plan to join me and I also know of a couple of maybes. Most who would want to go have my digits, but just in case: five01951eight6three5. Call or text any time.

The Oracle called to admonish me that it's sacrilege to run the lower Buffalo when one can run the upper Buffalo. He is right. Therefore, we go to Steel Creek! At present our number is five. All other plans remain unchanged.

Looks like river level will be on the low side of ample at Ponca this weekend. Good news is that the water will be running clear. Bad news is that the whole world will descend on Ponca Saturday. Only half the world on Friday.

2.6 and above is good.

Weather forecast could be better but isn't bad.

We'll be at Kyle's from tonight to Saturday. Float plan is Ponca to Kyle's Friday and Kyle's to Pruitt Saturday. I'm heading home Saturday but I think Richard is staying through Monday. If you decide to camp with us we'll be glad to have you. If you decide to float with us one or both days we'll be glad to have you. If you just want to stop by for :beer2: guess what? Glad to have you!
You come too.

Thank you Deuce for a tremendous trip. Beautiful weather. Adequate water. Great friends and food. I had a great time.
