Tom,
Gonna be too cold for me today! I only have a wetsuit. Did go yesterday and caught the Arkansas canoe club (about a dozen people), at the Frog at 3.4. Sun came out off and on, so it made it easier! I'll catch you another time. Unless the sun peeks out today!!!

Thanks so much for setting this up, Tom! What a great time on a local creek. Hey, Shane, if you're listening, private message me and let me know if you're on Facebook, cuz I have a video and some pictures.

Great day indeed. Even at a little lower level this stretch (the Middle Section, Ash to Grotto) had plenty of action. Ledges, holes, and play on the upper section followed by 50 Eddies on the lower section.

Trip report:

What a great run for the NW and RV chapters to have so close. An often overlooked, 7 mile gem right off of I540.
The "Ash run" has a few features that rival any class II+ that I've ever seen. It seems to be best between 3' and 5' on the gauge. Almost all of the drops are on the first 2/3 of the run with a ton of great eddys on the last 1/3. Even at 3' there are no dead-pools.. the river pushes you downstream as it flattens out near the end. We had one Instructor Trainer, two instructors and a few new faces along with some of the NW chapters finest members. It was a great day indeed. Many new skills were learned, new challenges conquered, a few swims (Caused by the "devils soda??"), many laughs and great conversation.

This run will be on my Frequent Flyers list for sure!
