Lost Spyderco Knife
While taking a Level 5 SWR course with Tom Burroughs, I lost my brand new Spyderco knife at Rockport. I suspect that it was probably near "Tiger's Jaw" on river right. No, it does not have my name on it because I could never find a flat place other than the blade to write anything on it. It is bright yellow and the foldable type. If found, please contact me here or at 501-258-7571. Thanks.

Re: Lost Spyderco Knife
Ouch! Sure hope you find it.
That style and make rescue knife is one of my favorites.
And, they work!
Some years ago, I was on a float out west (Salt River AZ) where we had two loaded rafts jammed into each other and between two pick up truck sized rocks.
Took a while to figure out why a normal double z drag setup was not moving the rafts.
Found out, one of the rafts oars was totally jammed into the river bottom, rocks and the frames that no way was the Z drag was gonna work.
We did not have a saw but I had my Spyderco Rescue Knife in my PFD. Fortunately the jammed oar was a prized wooden one. After a discussion with the owner, one of the more athletic group members of our team was able to get to a position where he could reach the oar. Took him a bit of time but with my Spyderco Knife he was able to saw thru the oar's shaft. Another pull on the Z drag and the rafts popped free. This event happened on day one of the float and we continued on the trip.
These Spyderco knifes are truly well made.
Tip I get those short web key holders made out of webbing with ring clips on the ends and a plastic quick release in the middle. Put one ring clip in my PFD pocket key holder, the other into the knife handle. Do practice removals of the knife (get used to finding the release clip) from your PFD pocket and If this is something you like go for it. I get these web key holders from a local key shop but have seen them in the sports store outlets.
