Re: Progress on Fisher's Ford Park

COLOR CHANGE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The OWP (thanks Bill) has updated the color chart for the gauge on the park.
For right now we are going with 2.1 to be too low,
3.7 optimal and 5 flood.
All of these are estimates on what the park was designed for vs. what we
have seen while paddling.
Lets keep and eye on the river and the gauge and we can update the scale
later if needed.
Thanks to Dan Daniel for the diligence on this and the OWP for everything.

I'd definitely say there's been progress at Fishers Ford! -M-

Having gone to the ford 5 out of the last 7 days, I almost can't believe how fortunate we are to have had this answer to a prayer drop in our laps. Thank you so much Walton Foundation and City of Siloam Springs. And every one involved in making mine and so many more folks lives better. -M-

Rock on Mike, It looks like the paddlers are going to get it to ourselves longer than we thought.
Because of the unusual winter weather, (lots o' snow) the parking lot is going to set the schedule back
further than first thought. Grand opening for park may be into the first of July as of now......

A message posted by our new neighbors out at the Ford.

"While I’m sure that most of those who visit this page have some sentimental attachment to Fisher Ford, the reality is that the bridge was not only a place to remember fondly but most importantly, it was a way to cross the river in a vehicle. We must face the reality that, on a day-to-day basis, this crossing affected many people who live in this community. For the many years since the bridge was condemned, without the promise of ever seeing it repaired, some have been without access to their property and livestock, causing a 24-mile drive around, sometimes more than once a day. Some have nearly perished because of the lack of medical help since GPS and people in general were never alerted about the bridge being closed. The dead-end caused the area to become a dump and a drug zone; simply put, it was not always a safe and pleasant place to visit.

For whatever reason the beautiful old bridge was not preserved or repaired, the need for a bridge still remains. Yes, it is very sad to see the old one go, but there are many who are thankful that Fisher Ford will once again be open to vehicles."

The only constant is change!
Dan

Well said and very true. We can still miss the old, which I do, but a bridge that wasn't closed down has been sorely needed for years.

I've been fortunate to be able to hit the ford 4 days this week, at all different water levels, and all I can say is Wow!. Always new , always fun. One inch either way ,makes it a whole new spot. I love it!!!!-M-

All is good at the park.
They are working on the park itself.

Looks awesome, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous. Hope to make it up there some time this spring.
