ON my serial number the last 4 digits are etched in. Like, by hand with a sharp tool. The first 8 are etched by a machine. My last 4 are D808. Hope this helps. I literally had to take a picture with my phone and use the flash to see it. Look closer.

I am seeing some discussions that indicate either tupperwear type plastic or glass will be the canoe replacement for Royalex.

I have had experience in a kevlar explorer in Boundary Waters and man was it a sweet boat especially on portage trails.

so far I have found the tupperwear type canoes way more heavier than I think I can manage. And, am afraid of the glass versions might not handle the rocks and boof moves we have here in the Ozarks.

I along with boaters like Dennis B did a lot of area boating in glass kayaks. We all became familiar with how to patch hulls.

No experience with glass canoes loaded with gear doing trips here around the Ozarks. Interested to hear opinions on those who are familiar.

We should have surmised that anyway. Not sure anything else could survive the trip what with the flames and the giant cable and all. Frankly I'm surprised anyone could get a playboat on that thing, let alone a sixteen foot tandem.

Wow,that dose'nt look much like my '99 model Buffalo,mine has aluminun square tubing gunnels.I have some delamination but it was a livery boat from Turner Bend.
The curing process would explain why my brand new Wenonah Argosy seems to gouge so easily,I did'nt even realize I was damaging the boat until I took it out of the water.
The plastic in my old Outrage seems to take abuse a lot better,my main concern with it is low water and wearing the outer layers off.

Same here but I already had a photo stored in my files just in case(heaven forbid)something happened to my boat.
I would recomend taking a shot of all your boats serial numbers.It's a lot easier to find than hunting through papers and could be accessed from anywhere.

Just my opinion, all royalex canoes gouge easier since Spartech bought Uniroyal's royalex division in 2000 (no matter how long the royalex has cured).

Just to let everyone know, I spoke with Gary Gordan above me. He will be making the canoes and I will be owning one. Sounds like he decribing a similar material Jackson uses for their Kayaks.

I know the owner of Buffalo Canoes.
Your boat is called a Second (Blem).
It is not a First.
The difference is in the thickness of the plastic.
From time to time my friend would order plastic and some of the sheets would be thinner than others.
Your boat is abs plastic made by Royalex , which is a commercial grade plastic.

The Seconds are sold to some retailers and concessionaires, at a discounted price.
My friend makes it clear to whomever purchases them they are Seconds.
How the Seller moves the boat is not under his control.

I just spoke with the owner on the phone and he wanted me to tell you he would repair your boat.
Yes, he can do it. I have seen him repair one just like yours.
O, if you want decals, I can make that happen.

I make buffalo canoes the 2nd canoes are thinner or theirs a defect I can fix that boat I weld plastic I will fix it for you no charge for welding 30 bucks for gunwale that's my cost I have stickers Gary Gordon 8704465951 the thin plastic is another mfgs sheet it is thin for lots of reasons portage not designed for my mold not made for rentals I did not sell it as a first that would be wrong they changed the plastic because of EPA regulations 1985 I will be making T-formex material next year 10% lighter 20x more abrasive again I can fix it I don't need a unhappy customer please let me help gary
