Anybody Else Got A Boatball Jones?
What about a weekend session some time this Winter? Maybe after a roll session? -M-

I was thinking maybe go to lunch after the Jones Center, then out to wherever to play.-M-

What about those rock pylons or whatever they were going to put in above the dam at the ford to define a boatball field? Is that still a go?

I was out there for a look see Saturday, there are a few new "random boulders" in the river between the bridge and the top feature. But they look too random to be for Boatball . The best spot may be up river of the bridge. -M-

The current looks to be too swift at 3.5' for Boatball above the top feature.

Season opener is getting closer. Daylight savings time begins March 9. Estimated boatball season opener anticipated to be maybe Wednesday, March 26, possibly the 19th if enough daylight after work by then. Won't have to Jones much longer for that boatball fix.

Check the depth and current between the bridge and top wave.
IF it will work I can see about having the boulders moved for "goals".
I had asked for an opinion before and was told the location was not
the best so I let it drop.
Let me know.....

Re: Anybody Else Got A Boatball Jones?
1. The nice thing about boatball is it's not complicated. Find a pool of water, add a couple of buoy's, a ball, some players, game on. It's been pretty easy over the past few years to toss a couple of buoys in the water for goals. I don't see any need to add any permanent obstructions to (or move any around) the river bed for the sake of having permanent boatball goals. Besides if folks decided they wanted to play boatball at the Ford got over there & discovered they forgot the buoys I seriously doubt there would be any major objections to just playing on the waves.
2. Not sure I'd be willing to drive to the Ford from the Rogers/Bentonville area for boatball since it adds quite a bit more drive time to the equation. West Fork and Chambers Springs seem closer to get to after work for boatball for the majority of folks. If I'm going to invest the extra time to drive to a whitewater park why would I play boatball when I got there vs. playing on the waves?
3. Boatball still seems like it will be a nice complement to the whitewater park & provides another outlet for paddling in our area. It's fun, great exercise, & improves paddling skills whether you paddle whitewater, enjoy playboating or prefer flatwater or are just getting in a boat for the first time. Different strokes for different folks. (pun intended)
