Going to be a lot of boaters out at Richland at the Barton's party. Probably will be quite a few folks heading up Richland to Twin Devils or other hikes in that area. We'll have the kids so not sure where we'll end up. Maybe Pedestal Rocks or Glory Hole.
Not sure everyone can see it, but here's a photo off of Tom Kennon's FB page of Richland last weekend:

Well worth coming out for a hike!

BTW, if you do hike Adkins (it is a beautiful but very rugged hike), let us know what the tree situation is down in there. About 5 years ago it was really bad in the first 0.5 miles of the run. Not sure past there. I'm hoping some of those chunks of wood have flushed out...?
That's a great run - never heard of anyone running it again since we were in there lo so many years ago.

That was back when Old Town was still New Town... I want to go back sometime. Boen Gulf too - but I'm not sure about the wood that's in there either...

Didn't make it to Adkins Fish, but in 2010 there was a lot of wood. I will be hiking Adkins again and Boen Gulf in the near future and will give a report. Took a friend to Thunder Canyon and Broadwater Hollow. Also had to stop in at Lost Valley and Hawksbill Craig.
Here's some pix from 2010. I took a couple of pix with the bad spots with lots of wood. http://www.flickr.com/photos/divinemadn ... 406236089/

Re: Anyone hiking this weekend?
Bonus points if you relocate any of the wood you find out of the creekbed. :)

That was an excellent write up if your Atkins creek trip Fish. I just now read it. I think I'll have nightmares for a few nights. Glad it all turned out ok.

Went to Albert Pike.
Still really troubled by what is going on there. It's tough for me to see the place like it is now, I grew up camping out there every fall and spring and love that place. I feel for the families and friends of those that lost loved ones back in 2010. Still, I hope something can be worked out in the future to bring back over-night camping to such a wonderful place.

You should ask Maggie Powell for the guided tour at Seven Hollows Trail in Petit Jean State Park
Sorry, couldn't help myself, Maggie! Now that your ordeal is over and done with and you posted about it on FB, we all have to poke fun!

Poke fun all you want Renee... but remember I was out there all night in lower 40 degree weather in the rain with only a poncho to keep some of the water off. And to be fair, although the authorities were looking for me, they found me on the HWY that I had found by walking a dirt road in the direction that sounded like vehicles. I was beaten and bruised from falls on slippery rocks and holes, yet I decided I wasn't going to stop until I dropped from exhaustion.
And yes, I can definitely guide you around the area but that would involve breaking through sticker bushes, downed trees, and climbing wet boulders that one should not be climbing in the dark. I can thank Cowper and Lance for the bushwacking experience but I didn't have any sort of cutting instrument that those two use when on their treks.
In my book, with the equipment I had, I think I did pretty damn well.
But yes, I did learn some good lessons in the absolute hardest way possible. :)
