So, can we trust the recording? Is the draw-down really going to happen on the 2nd and 3rd?

That's when it's planned to start. The rain this week may have them release some water earlier according to the email that went out yesterday.

Got this email today...
The forecast is for possible heavy rains for the tonight and tomorrow. See below Quantitative Precipitation Forecast map. As a result we have started releasing water from both Carpenter and Remmel and will be dropping the lake levels a bit in advance of this rainfall.
As you know this is a flash flood prone river valley and the rain can sometimes fall heavy in short periods of time and the runoff can rise really fast. This can cause rapid changes in lake elevations. We will do our best to open the floodgates and pass it downstream, but it is not uncommon for high lake levels to occur where the big streams enter the lake. Lakefront property owners are advised to check on their docks and boats and be sure everything is secure. Downstream river property owners should move cattle and farm equipment up to higher ground as a precaution against rapidly rising river levels.
Hopefully, the really big stuff will pass to the South. We shall just have to watch and see

Re: RockPort - Nov 2 & 3
The release is supposed to start at 8am. I think the water gets there about 3 hours later and is fully in about 3.5 hours later. Others think it's there sooner...I prefer the water to fill in so YMMV. So assuming they start on time, figure water anywhere from 11am later. We'll probably aim to get there about noon and stay the afternoon.
Depending on where you're driving from, it's never a bad idea to actually confirm you see the release on the gauge before you start your drive, and that it really has started on time.
Cheers

I've heard that into every life a little of it must fall,
but you'll never catch me complaining about too much of that southern rain.
