I've been wanting to try the cossatot. I'm fairly new to kayaking but would like to try some a little more challenging. I've been floating the cadron several times this year and ready to do something else. How much time should one allot for floating the cossatot if was the first time and scouting needed?

The Cossatot is actually a pretty big step up from the Cadron. Read up on it some and make sure you feel like you're ready for that step.Cotton_Eye_Bo wrote:I've been wanting to try the cossatot. Most folks spend two to three hours between Ed Banks and the Falls; another two if they go all the way down to Hwy 4 / 278. It's a relatively short run, with options to take out above the Falls if you either find out you've bitten off too much or just run out of time.
Trash: Get a little every time you go!

Re: Anyone floating this weekend?
Thanks for all the info guys. I wouldn't attempt it alone for sure. I am sure it is more than I should attempt as of right now but if it was the only thing with water in it I would give it a shot. Actually one of my buddies and i got into kayaking at the same time so we go together a lot and are at the same level. I think a few of us are gonna attempt the middle fork of the little red if it gets up and stays up until Saturday. Any tips on that one?
