Central Chapter DO cookout and Potluck, Oct 22

Post by Tim Eubanks » Wed Oct 09, 2013 10:18 am

October meeting will be a Dutch Oven cookout and potluck at Alsopp Park's pavillion on the 22nd. We will eat around 7. Dutch Ovens not required but will give you a chance to show off or learn some stuff.
Build a big white man's fire and collectively hope for good rains this fall and winter.

Pavillion will be available at 4pm if you want to set up your stuff and get to cookin'. There is a charcoal grill there as well as electricty for a crock pot and two double-burner camp stoves for use, too.

Way to go President Tim !!!

DustBowl Chapter has been doing this for a number of years.

The best attended chapter function our chapter has.

Next year we hope to do something on the scale of the DustBowl event. Just couldn't quite manage it this year on such short notice. Lots of interest, just not lots of time.
You come too.

I think this is a great idea! Now, if I just didn't have to work that evening... Crane

We'll probably work toward a weekend event next year so more can attend.
Most recipes I've been looking at only require 45 minutes to an hour of cook time. If you prep at home and cook on-site there should be plenty of time to have dinner ready at 7.
I'm in for one DO of chicken pot pie. Haven't decided on DO #2 yet, but it won't be a dessert for sure.

I have a standing commitment on Tuesday nights these days, but I just might have to break it for this. :drool2: After all, a man gots to have his priorities.

The address of Allsop park is 3700 Cedar Hill Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205. The pavilion is located to the back right of the park.

Extended forecast looks like an awesome night to be out around a fire with friends and good food!

My plan is to pre-cook most ingredients and combine them on-site then get them all heated through and happy. Then again the park is about 3 minutes from my house so time is less an issue for me. Mui Sabroso Pollo

Anybody coming in a pickup truck that could donate some fire wood?

I have a good bit of firewood left over from when I lost electricity last year that I'd be happy to donate if someone could come by and load into a pick up. Or I could put some of it in my wagon.
I've heard that into every life a little of it must fall,
but you'll never catch me complaining about too much of that southern rain.
