Skirts for liquid logic remix xp9

Looking for a little more info on what skirt size i need for this boat, took it to the mulberry for the first time yesterday and spent a lot of time dumping water out of it which was not the easiest task ever. any help would be great appreciated

I'm sorry this reply is a little delayed, I've been out of the loop for a while.

One thing to think about in choosing a skirt for the XP-9 is how do you intend to use the boat?

This boat is a good crossover boat that some people use as a purely recreational kayak, while others run more serious Whitewater in it. (The Mulberry could fit into either category depending on what water level and weather conditions you choose to paddle in, and how much you "play" the river.)

If you plan to paddle in a more recreational style, and really have no interest in learning to roll, then choose a spray skirt that uses nylon or a combination of nylon and neoprene. These skirts come off the boat very easily if you turn over; you really don't even have to release them using the "ripcord".

On the other hand, if you plan to learn to roll later on, the choose an all neoprene design. There are some good discussions on this board about the different styles available (bungee vs rubber rand, and brand preferences).

If you go with the white water, all neoprene design, be sure to try a wet exit under controlled conditions with someone standing by to help you if needed the first time! Not to be overly dramatic, but some people have actually died because they could not get loose from their boat while upside down with an overly tight spray skirt.

We used a "Lucky Charm Rand Skirt" from Immersion Research for our XP9 and XP10.

The online info pointed us to getting the XL cockpit size for the XP9 and that wound up being too tight for my daughter to get on easily. It came off fine though.

For the XP10 we used an XXL cockpit and that worked out perfect. I don't think we ever tried the XXL on the XP9.
