Plastic Kayak Repair

Post by Litigator » Thu Sep 05, 2013 9:28 am

I have a hole in the bottom of my sup Ocean Kayak about the size of a nickel and I've tried everything I know to patch it but it still leaks. I've tried Aqua Seal, Water Weld, and melted plastic. I need to get it to a repair place in the Central Arkansas area. Any suggestions?

I use G-Flex to repair all types of plastic. It is a simple 1 to 1 mixture that hardens in a few minutes in warm weather. The 655 product works for holes in recreation, sea and whitewater kayaks. I've used it a few times for royalex canoes.

This specific kayak is made out of polyethylene and I ended up obtaining a substance called P-Tex to patch the hole. It looks like a wax candle which you light and then let it drip into the damaged area. I got it from a local hiking store but I saw where it is available online and is used primarily to repair snowboards, snow skis and the like. Seems to be working well now but we'll see how it holds up.
