Wild Flower Identification
Hoping one of you brainy types out there could give me the proper identification on a wildflower I photographed on my property in Madison county. I am starting to catalog all of the wildflowers I find and have hit a dead end on this one.
Any help would be appreciated.
It (along with many others) was found growing in the runoff of a natural seep in the middle of a glade.
Thanks

Craig's compendium is fantastic. You can also post flowers here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/147237862047197/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and Craig and others will help you with a lot of information.
Re: Wild Flower Identification
Hey, how about identifying this bug. He is about the size of a pencile eraser.

Re: Wild Flower Identification
Tough! Especially as the bug appears to be in larvae form and lacks a lot of its distinguishing features. On the one hand it resembles a few species of lady bugs and milkweed beetles here in Arkansas but I am going to go with some type of leaf bug simply because I have seen a few before with the white "silk tuft".
What type of plant was it on? Did it appear all by itself or with peers and siblings? Do you have other views?
ANSWER: Leaf Hopper - larvae. Species unknown.

Edgar,
I'm with C.B., what kind of plant was it on? It almost looks like the blossom end of a young squash.

Sorry Jim, I forgot I posted here. It was on a Hosta and made a web like substance around the stems.
This was the only one. I didn't have any other views.

Thanks Jeremy, you are dead-on.Jhayes wrote:Joe, How about this one?
That is a great resource. I am already having a lot more luck I.D.ing the other ones I couldnt find.
Thanks again!
Looks like this is a valuable little flower I have. Might pick some before the drought sets in to keep over the winter. Seems it is pretty useful for a lot of things.
