Rush-Buffalo City Memorial Weekend

Post by R_Corter » Wed May 15, 2013 1:56 pm

Was wondering who would be on this section Memorial weekend. Looking for possible shuttle help Friday Night or Saturday morning for put in or take out shuttle Monday. We will probably get on the river Friday evening if anyway possible and come out Monday morning. Where are the take outs at Buffalo City? I know one can paddle up stream to the public access but I've heard mention before about a dock just downstream that is accessible for canoes also. What is the name and how do I contact them? Thanks in advance!!!!

White Buffalo and Riley's Station are both just up river from the confluence and can be reached by canoe provided the current isn't too strong. Word is the folks at Riley's will tow your canoe to their dock for a nominal fee (I've never availed myself of that service so I can't confirm its availability). They also charge a nominal fee (I forget how much, but not much) for leaving your vehicle there. If you don't want to ferry upstream you can go a few miles (about four I think) down the White to Cartney access. It's relatively remote. No idea whether there would be security concerns, but that should be something to consider. If you have to hire a shuttle use Aaron at Buffalo River Float Service. He's a super nice guy with very dependable service and reasonable rates, and he can answer any questions you may have about that float. Hope y'all have a great time. That's a really fun trip. Don't let Clabber Creek rapid sneak up on ya. :wht:

Thanks Deuce, I know Cartney access well. We have land and cabin about 25 mins from Cartney in Sylamore. Will probably opt for Buffalo City access. I have contacted BRFS about the shuttle but hopefully we can provide our own considering the amount of family I have in the area. If not we will use BRFS they are great. Clabber Creek is strawberry cake, knock on wood!

Looks like I have a cousin that is wanting to go. We are meeting Saturday morning at Buffalo City to leave a vehicle and go put in at Rush. If any one is needing help with shuttle on this stretch we could possible help. We will come out Monday around midday if all goes well. :canoe:
