Double Double: Falling Water and Upper Richland

Post by Stewart Noland » Mon Mar 11, 2013 8:51 pm

Several of us ran Falling Water on Sunday when Richland was upwards of 5 feet, then followed that with a run down Upper Richland when it was a tad below 5 feet. For the second time that I can recall doing this, Marcell and I ferried 8 backpackers and their gear across Falling Water from the Richland side to the campground side, adding a chapter to the Backpackers Paddling Guide to Richland Creek. On the second run on Richland, Dale Barton and Andy Monfee on a Shredder, Marcell and I R2ing a Super Puma, and Bob Brewer in a C1 made the run in about 1.5 hours and took out right at 5:30 to cap a great day on the water. Thanks to Dale and Andy for running the point all day and to Pam and Johnna for some timely driving. Mostly sunny, warm weather and big water in early March is a blessing that we were glad to have.
