That's a generous offer, but we'd better wait for Adam and Lisa. They and their helpers have ideas in the works. Be sure and come to the board meeting March 2 to hear all the rest of the plans for Whitewater School and how we can all get involved!

Also, can't wait to hear all about your adventures in Equador!

Why would you need a funny boat to go to canoe school?

Thanks to Dave (Ask Me) Robertson for the details.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Dustbowl Chapter Prez Al Schlitz has the last word but for the last few Canoe Schools we have been camping over in the rental parking area under the pine trees on the end closest to the bath house. We cross the highway to visit, but come back to sleep!!

I am no way opposed to setting up campsites for the different Chapters but It might not be realistic for all chapter members to camp in the same area. For instance, lots of the the quieter members like to find spots away from the noisier groups such as across the road down by the Turner Bend store. We should set some individual campsites apart for those whole want a less noisy camp set up.

Mu suggestion would be to set up recognizable chapter campsites but allow spaces further away that might offer a quiet alternative. That way everyone would know where their chapter basecamp is in case they need anything. Each chapter could post their banner so arriving members could determine if they need an alternative campsite.

A welocome/ registration booth is a idea. I would suggest that the volunteers get people signed in, then direct them to their chapter campsites and provide any other information that might be useful to members.

Another alternative might be to email members an inforamtion packet about what to expect when they arrive. I also suggest that Officers and board members wear name tags or shirts so that we are visible when needed.

Again, these are simply suggestions that might make the event run more smoothly. These and other aspects will need to be discussed at the board meeting in March.

Thanks,
Maggie

Lame attempt at a joke. My canoe is a sixteen foot Mad River Explorer which probably wouldn't be the best choice for WW school. Been thinking about procuring a solo whitewater canoe, but it'd have to be cheap or Mrs. Deuce would string me up.
You come too.

Hey Maggie,

I think folks can and will camp pretty much where they please. I don't think the intent is to make everyone camp with their chapter. Just trying to get an idea on where chapters traditionally congregate. By all means, folks should set up where ever they feel most comfortable.

In the past we did try to make the Gazebo side of the campground more of a quite side.

In any case, my suggestion to all is to bring some foam ear plugs so you can get some rest at night!

Haven't heard anyone from the River Valley contingent chime in.

Rain in the forecast for today, keep your fingers crossed!

Boy this is getting fun:) The reason for wanting to know what campsites each chapter prefers to camp at is to make it easier for a new participant/club member to find the folks that invited them into the club at a monthly meeting or just word of mouth. I will ask each chapter to have an individual at their preferred campsite representing their chapter and the ACC. No I’m not asking each chapter member to camp at the same site. All I need is someone from each chapter to take a look at the link for the Turner Bend map and tell me what number you prefer to camp at. I have an individual that makes maps for a living and will be designing our WW School Event Map. Thank you so much for the persons that have already offered to help. I’ve made my list and will be getting in touch soon.
Sincerely,
Adam Willard

Make sure the new folks know to stay away from the RBF (if they are still around), team stupid, and Team ADD? At least until they get acclimated. Maybe put some caution tape up around them.

That's pretty much was I was saying about Chapter campsites. It will provide a central ocation for chapter members to meetup but allows them to choose a site that suites their needs.

Props to you, Adam, for taking on one of the most daunting tasks that this club has to offer for its volunteers! Sounds like you are working to make it even bettah! Hope I can be there to help in my own small way. :beer2:

I know this is a little off subject from this post but when will I be able to register for the WW school? I know on the website it says click the link below to register but there is no link. Also I am a new member and will be a first timer at the school.

Let's say the RV chapter will be around the Gazebo, unless someone has a better plan, this allows us to roll out of our trucks and start the pancakes lickity split. I will not get to canoe school until midafternoon on Saturday so I will be hitting others up to be our welcome wagon!!!
