Happy New Year Red Hot Cider Float

Post by DeBo » Sat Dec 08, 2012 1:05 pm

Come help us bring in the new year in a great way, outdoors on the water! The Little Maumelle winds through Pinnacle Mountain State Park among cypress and tupelo trees with the mountain in the background, it is a beautifully place. One the outskirts of west Little Rock, this place still has a remote feel with many kinds of birds and other wildlife. This event gets more popular every year. In the last two years we have had over twenty boats on the water and always have a great time.

We will meet at 11am at the Pinnacle State Park boat ramp on the Little Maumelle and run a shuttle down to our takeout at the boat ramp on Pinnacle Valley road. This will be about a five mile paddle. There is usually a little current running through the trees at the beginning but most of the trip is flat open water. Bring your boat, your lunch and anything eslse you need for a day on the water. We will stop along the way to eat and have hot apple cider.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Looks like the rain is still due to end early so 11am is still the plan.

Thanks Debo for organizing our traditional New Year float. Smaller group this year...but 10 of us paddled the Little Maumelle from Pinnacle, stopping for Debo's famous Red Hot Cider along the way. A few of us got to see about a dozen furry little muskrats all nestled together in a couple roosts. Cool, gray day, but still was the RIGHT way to greet a new year, with friends and on the water in the outdoors.

And, after coming home from the Caddo on Sunday to have electricity, today I got to come home to finally have cable and internet connection back. Woohoo!

Happy New Year!

Thanks Heather! It was a good day and the best way to start a new year. Glad you got your Internet back. I guess that means you have to go back to work though. :)

Mike and I enjoyed the Little Maumelle trip -- he in my Argosy rec canoe and I in my blackwater rec kayak. Great to be with friends after so long off the water. Thanks Debo!
