I purchased this truck in 1995 with 39k miles. It was my daily driver till 2004 when it hit 201k miles. It then became my “fun ride” built for my specific purpose. Drive it anywhere in the state, than get me and my kayak in and out of some rough places. I put on a 4” suspension lift and 33” tires at about 195,000 miles. At 201,000 miles, I pulled the motor and dropped in a 1999 Chevy Vortec V-6. I did the conversion myself. All gauges work and everything has been hooked up and works except for the A/C. It currently has 208,500 miles.

This truck is in really good physical shape and has had most components renewed, upgraded or modified. I have receipts for $7,000-8,000 in parts alone. I had some trouble with a few small items that wore me down and took the fun out of it for me. Main problem is the stupid headers. Had trouble with them burning spark plug wires (This situation should be fixed) and leaks at the collector. I got mad and tried to weld the exhaust solid but there seems to still be a leak (but not bad). Also have replaced the power steering pump 5 times, and it still makes more noise then I think it should (auto parts store rebuilt) . Also the K&N air intake system made an annoying whistle (but I finally have this fixed now as well). Fix the exhaust, hook up the A/C and make it a daily driver. Fix the exhaust and buy the front axle I have for sale and wheel it hard.

I have lost motivation with this project and now am facing a move across country and don’t think I want to haul it out there. The truck is located in southwest Little Rock, and can be driven home after you purchase it. asking $5,000 o.b.o.

Good Engine? you must not be familiar with the Toyota 3.0l V-6. Brand new it only made like 150 hp, and got 12-14mpg. When I pulled it out of the truck at 200K, with 33" tires, it was getting single digit mpg and had to be in first gear to get up any small hill. Parts are also very expensive for that motor. The rebuild kit (at the time) was $2500+ and having it done was $4000+.

I felt that it was better value to go with the Chevy motor. Truck has plenty of power now (200hp+). You can accelerate while in 5th gear going uphill on the interstate. And if somethings does wear out on the engine, the parts (alternator, power steering pump, etc) are about half as expensive. Plus I just wanted to see if I could do it myself.

Just yanking your chain. My wife had a 4-Runner with that engine. It was a POS from day one. :poke2:
