Official Announcement
Official Announcement
Many of you already know this, but it is with an overwhelming mixture of emotions, both excitement and sadness that Renee and I officially announce that we are leaving the Arkansas paddling community and moving to Reno, NV. We do not look at this as we are going to just move away and forget all of the great friends we have here in Arkansas, but we are moving to establish a new “base camp” for our friends to use to explore a new area of the country. We will truly miss everyone. I have paddled all over the country and have not come across as great a group of folks as here in Arkansas.
We have been to Reno several times to go snowboarding over the past few years. I have even boated in the Reno Whitewater park and several great rivers just a couple of hours away over in Northern California. The reason for the move is Renee stumbled into a great job opportunity, and the fact that it just wont rain here in Arkansas. I hope that our moving causes the skies to cut loose and everyone gets some great paddling this next spring. We will be loading up and moving out in mid-December.
So if we’re lucky, we will get one more run down some old favorites like the Cossatot or Richland. Cause the last time I ran them, I did not know it was my last time to run them…
Scott

Re: Official Announcement
Scott and Renee,
You will both certainly be missed by many of us, so I hope we can continue to visit via the message board!
Since I grew up as an army kid, our family moved quite a bit, I too was sad to leave my friends, but was always excited to expand my horizons. The best of luck to you both!
Thank you Renee for the many times you helped me with shuttles over the years, and all the good conversation during the floats we made!
Best Regards
Jim

You all will be missed.... Currently I have a meeting scheduled for July in Reno... Probably the water will be gone by then.

Scott and Renee
You two will be missed by area boaters. That is a understatement for sure!
Scott you have always been one of my "hero" boaters running hard stuff with grace and much skill. Opening up a lot of new runs for the rest of us to follow.
Renee, Showing my age here, but I can remember the days when you first started boating. It has been a fun thing for me to watch you turn into a skilled river runner (hands paddle boater down the Cossatot, need I say more) and even more watching you take a leadership position in the club we all love. You have served the club and sport well.
For sure both of you will be missed. Having said that I completely understand the need to move when better work turns up. I know in my work with information technology for a while I was moving every few years. Even after Francine and I were married, about the time she got the house set up the way she wanted it, I would move us. Bottom line moving several states away is exciting and sad at the same time. You are going to an area just full of outdoor sports and awesome scenery.
You guys take care and be sure to remain in touch with your boating buds back in in AR and surrounding states.

Wow. Doesn't seem that long ago that some of us watched y'all get married at Oh Be Joyful, and then watched Scott and Lance run the creek. We will miss y'all. Best of luck in Reno. Hope we will see you at the put-in or at the lift one day. Well, at the bar would be ok too.
Re: Official Announcement
Scott, Rene',
You guys are a valued Asset to the Ark paddling community and will definitely be missed.
I, for one, appreciate how you guys are always willing to help a newbie, both on the water and off water instructions.
Thank you for the help and the safe trip through TableSaw (the one time I didn't swim)!
Happy Paddling

Re: Official Announcement
Thanks for all the wonderful comments! I will truly miss everyone here. I am glad though there's a few other Arkies in the area to show us the ropes and hopefully introduce us to other boaters and a few of the whitewater jewels in California! Also, Susan Wimberly and Dave Smith have recently moved to Washington state and Cathy Salisbury (formerly of AR) and her husband Chris are in that area so hopefully we might bump into them on some rivers if we venture out of NV/CA. I am nervous about moving so far away, but it's good to know there's other fine folks from AR in that part of the world Like Scott said if any of you all find yourselves out that way, you always have a place at our casa!

I hope you both know how much you will be missed, but we all want you to pursue your dreams and do well. Give the dogs a pet from me, and know that y'all will always have many places to stay here in Arkansas if you get to come back to visit.
Thanks again for everything you both have done for us over the years.
