TNC Conservation Partner - 2012 Award Winner
TNC Conservation Partner - 2012 Award Winner
The Nature Conservancy announced today their Conservation Partner Award for 2012, and our own ACC Conservation Chair, DeBo, was one of the recipients of this year's award. She was honored along with two others for the successful collaboration between conservationists and the natural gas industry in the restoration of the Archey Fork of the Little Red River. One tangible result of this work was Southwestern Energy''s announcement of a gift of $900K gift to pay for phase 1 of the Archey Fork restoration project to be overseen by the TNC.
Congratulations Debo, and more importantly, THANK YOU for all of your efforts on this great project.

I'm not suprised at Debo getting another award. As hard as she works for us and the environment, I imagine that there are very few in her class. She isn't one to blow her own horn, but it is nice to see someone so good at everything she does, get recognised by those giving out the awards.
If you ever want to get just a hint of what she does for us, just come to an ACC board meeting. She doesn't go into much detail beyond one sentence summaries of what got decided, or what needs doing, and what is coming up, but her very abbreviated summaries could easily take up the largest part of the meeting if we asked questions or for more details.
I know she deserves this award and many others. Thank you again Debo for all you do for us and the environment.

And someday, I will make the drive down from NW Arkansas for one of the swamp paddles.

Thanks everybody! I am very excited about the Archy Creek project. The ACC will be listed as a partner. I think that everyone in the club will be pleased when this project is finished. What is now a wide gravel braided stream will become a single boatable channel and may even develop several play spots. It will be very accesssble from Hwy 65 in Clinton.

Well deserved award
