Missouri and Arkansas Paddling Invite: Feb and Mar 2013

Post by Al Donaldson » Wed Nov 07, 2012 11:10 am

Folks:

It is the time of year when we Yankees are already thinking about paddling down south this winter.

We'll be staying at Boiling Springs Resort again on the Big Piney River near Licking MO from Feb 17 to

Mar 17.

We will paddle any river in range that has water:

Big Piney River (MO)
Current
Jack's Fork
North Fork (of the White)
Spring (AR)
Big Sugar Creek (MO)
Little Sugar Creek (AR & MO)
Indian Creek (MO)
and others as possible.

You are welcome to join us for the whole experience or for any part that you'd like.

We will have two cabins rented (Ana and I will use just one), and the spare one will be available for
paddlers (first request, first served) at $80 per week.

Additional cabins may be rented from Judy and Wayne at $125 per week (negotiable for longer stays)
or for $50 per night (negotiable for longer stays.)

OR, you may feel free to join us for a day trip.

Call or email if:
you have questions or need more info,
want to "sign up" for a time spot, or
have someone else whom you think might want to show up.

Regards,

al

I'll take the second cabin and send you the money if no one else has claimed it yet. And you know I would share it or pass it on if I am not able to make it.

Saw the doctor yesterday for my 4 month checkup. Went in there not exactly pleased with the results so far. He is now saying 6 to 12 months instead of the 3 to 4-6 months to get back to where I was and that my expectations were higher than most folks, and that I was "pushing it", but he says he wants me to paddle as much as possible as it will be the best therapy. Been out on the water now 3 times for 2-3 hours each in the sea kayak. Doctor put me on a different anti-inflammatory (Celebrex) for the bursitus and two for "nerve pain". I have been off of all pain meds now for 41 days. They (doctor and therapist) wanted me to feel the pain, so I would not "overdo" and reinjure the shoulder. Not been a "fun" time. Slept more than 5 hours last night, most I have slept since July.

Old 5 holer saying - made the yearly company shirt one year - Need mo water
