Maddox Bay Sunday 10/14

Post by DeBo » Wed Oct 10, 2012 12:29 am

This is a very nice paddle in the North unit of the While River Refuge south of Clarendon. We will paddle up Maddox Bay to Adams Bayou and if there is enough water we will go into Eagle Lake.

We will be meeting at Hazen, exit 193 off I40 at the T-Ricks convenience store at 9:00AM and at the put in at Sweats Landing at 11:00AM. Bring lunch, a change of clothes and muck boots or other shoes that you don't mind getting muddy.

Looking forward to it!

Debo asked me to post directions for those who want to go directly to Sweat's:

For exact directions from anywhere, go to maps.google.com
Hit the "Get Directions" tab
Type in your starting location.
For the Destination, type in N34.5242 W91.1992

For Mobile Apps and some devices, this might work better: http://goo.gl/maps/0QOXe" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Trash: Get a little every time you go!

Great! Glad you're going Sarah! Forecast is 80 and partly sunny but with a pretty good chance of a thunder storm, so bring your rain gear!

Got everything on my to-do list done this evening so I plan to be at the T-rex in the morning.

Great day at Maddox Bay!!!

The weather forecast was so bad, we almost decided to punt, but thankfully we didn't. By the time we put in the rain had moved out, and there was enough wind to eliminate the mosquitoes, but not so much that you couldn't paddle across the bay. We ended up with sunshine for a fair part of the day. And while dragging across a few beaver dams may not sound enticing at first, guess what: it almost guarantees that you won't be sharing the bayou with motor boats - it becomes your own personal wildlife refuge.

And of course, as you might guess we all managed to collect several bags of trash even though that wasn't our primary purpose for being there.

I'm already looking forward to the next trip. :drool2:
