The (old?) sage on the mountain has spoken.
Henry Ford said "If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have asked for faster horses."

Re: Walter Felton Article
I'd really like to read the article, but for some reason it locks up on my computer when it unloads.
Anybody able to give me a hint on how to get it readable?
Thank you, Eric Esche

Re: Walter Felton Article
Eric, The file is a pdf, try updating your adobe reader here,
http://get.adobe.com/reader/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(be sure to uncheck the first box about McAfee scan)
then try loading again, this time give it a while.
I am on Cox "high speed" and it still takes a while to open.
(a solid min. or so) depending on your connection and computer
it might take a bit.
If you still can't get it I can convert the file and send it to ya.
It is well worth the read on an important tool to have in your
rescue tool box.

Re: Walter Felton Article
Thank you Steve for the Adobe suggestion and link. It worked.
Good spot refresher. Knew it, just never heard it called that, but now I am more up to date on one more thing in the language. Thank you Walter. Always look forward to your words of wisdom and knowledge.
I think we used to call it "snubbing" or "snugging" way back when in the 70's, but that may have been a logger's or USFS term. I still find it is suprising how many rope techniques I/we used moving logs and rocks to Rabun County (Georgia) Trout Unlimited stream structure projects. We did a lot of stream structure projects and we always tried to do them safely and "smarter". We had a plentiful and creative mix of loggers, rangers, farmers, and engineers in our tiny TU chapter and we did more in the stream beds than any other Chapter for several years.
Going to be a few more months before I can haul on a rope due to the rotator surgery, but let me know if I can bring any gear needed.
And please keep sending suggested reading links like Walter's. Used to have a few hundred of them bookmarked before my computer died and now would be a great time to read, rather than surfing as much as I do.
Maybe we could start a permanent list of suggest reading sites, favorite links, and books for folks on the mend like me and David Reid like the Gear review section. Just an idea.
