Two Wood Strip Wee Lassies (FINISHED)

Post by woodystrack » Wed Jul 11, 2012 8:23 am

Some of you may remember my previous posts on two western red cedar stripped one-man canoes in the past few months... Well those two canoes we've been working on are now (finally) finished! :D

Here is my original Post from a few months back, explaining the back story on these two beautiful canoes:
>>>>>>
"A group of my family & friends are building two wood-strip one-man canoes right now and plan to be done by the end of April.
We're donating them to our alma mater, St. Joseph School in Conway, AR.
One is to be raffled off and the other is to be auctioned live at their 100th ANNUAL school bazaar during the first weekend of August this year!
Check out my blog i've started so that people can view the building process and keep up with their progress."

Look like some beautiful boats!

Where can someone obtain raffle tickets?

If someone wanted to drop by just for the auction, what time and where?

Thank ya'll both for your inquiries on the canoes!
Anyone can purchase raffle tickets at St. Joseph Church in Conway this weekend, before, during, or after Mass:
Saturday around 4:00pm; Sunday around 8:00am, 10:30am, & 5:00pm
Church address is 1115 College Ave., Conway, AR 72032
Also, you may buy tickets during the day of the bazaar August, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th after 5:30pm
Around the same place, (St. Joseph campus)

The drawing will take place August 4th around 10pm at the silent & live auction in the Parish Hall.
Raffle tickets are $2 each, 6 for $10, 20 for $18, or 100 for $100.
The other canoe will be auctioned off during the live auction starting at 8:45pm on that Saturday.
Tickets to get into the door for the auction however, is $35.

Wes, to answer your question; Yes the canoes are still up at Tim's shop.
He should even have some tickets to sell if you're interested. You can probably get Tom to take you by there and show them to you beforehand if you want...

Also, I added a few new pics on my blog website if you want to check em out...

Well, the Bazaar was a success this year!

One of the canoes was raffled off to girl in her early to mid-20's who went canoeing for the first time in her life about a week before the bazaar... But she seemed very excited to win it and was extremely thankful for us building it!

The other Wee Lassie canoe was live-auctioned off, and went for a whopping $3,500!! :D thank you to the gentleman who bought it, and to all those who bid on it!

Til next time... Float On!
