Weekend relesaes at Noon until 3pm, 3600cfs. from Remmel Dam.
I'm planning to be at the Ledge boat ramp between 12:00 and 12:30 tomorrow, Saturday, to meet and head up to the dam with any interested parties. Looks like another hot day, so plenty of cool drinks in order.

Quite a few of us on the downriver trip today, and it was most enjoyable. Although that pesky southerly, gulf breeze is always in our face at this time of year

Jim, I'm in need to get my cedar strip canoe wet. It would be fine until the ledge. Is there some way to line it out or get it out of the water at the "stop and put your skirt on" spot just upstream of the ledge?

There certainly is, and it's really pretty convenient. I have mentioned the option before to folks not wanting to run the Ledge of walking the nice WW Park sidewalk instead, then letting another in the party walk back to run their boat through. However, just about fifty feet upstream of the upper end of that sidewalk, I've noticed folks parking beside the road, so it would be real easy to stop on that gravel bar and have a helper and you carry the canoe the short distance up the trail to the truck. I'd be glad to point out the place, or help carry the canoe next time we float together.

Does any part of the run get over class 2 WW?

No. When you get to the ledge, just choose your line, keep it straight, and paddle a little bit instead of just drifting.

It's also very easy to land by the rocks just above the ledge on far river left, and walk about 75 to 100 feet downstream so you can look at the ledge to choose where you want to run it the first time. There is one hydraulic out in the middle of the river that should be avoided; if you are anywhere within 150 feet of the left bank, you won't be anywhere near the main problem spot.

There can also be some other tricky spots (hydraulics) that vary according to water levels. Like I said, if you don't see a good line, then just land on the left and go take a look from the bank until you feel good about it.

If your goal is kayak fishing, you can run the river just fine on the weekday releases (often about 1200 cfs), you don't need the full 3600 cfs release that the boaters who come to play on weekends prefer.
