SurfnTurf 2012 will be Saturday, July 28 at the Porterfields (Paradise says Malvern City Hall) at Rockport. That's river right or surfers' left , at the upper ledge. We supply burgers, dogs, buns, and accompanyments, you supply sides, deserts, etc.
As in the past, there are no "official" trips or events sponsored by the club, but informal, member-led downriver trips seem to get organized on their own. Reply to this thread if you want to get a group together.
We will plan on having lunch ready about 11:30a.m. for those who want to get their feed on before the water shows up.
Jeremy has a Throwdown scheduled for that afternoon which is always big fun.
Bring your favorite side and a cooler of your favorite hot-weather drinks, a chair, and all your peeps.

Thanks for the post Tim!

I missed last year due to illness but, barring any unforeseen difficulties, Marlo and I will plan to attend, looking forward to it. I'd like to bring a dutch oven full of my aunt's recipe 'baked beans'. I'll also bring a shop fan & cord for the cooks, and at least one folding table, will also be glad to haul off any trash bags when I collect my stuff at the end of the day.
As in years past, I always look forward to the downriver trip and will haul as many folks&boats as I can upstream when we go. Also in years past, there have been some folks that arrive extra early and organize a morning river trip timed to arrive for lunch. My preference has been for the afternoon trip so we will arrive mid-morning to visit, relax, and have lunch before heading up to the put-in.

Tim & Jim - if the release is going to be a short one and the food is ready by noon, I am assuming everyone who wants to go downriver can be done eating by then and those standing around waiting for the water could possibly help with a shuttle. Seems like more coordinating and organizing will have to take place with a 3-hour release and several things going on, right? I thought I heard there was going to be another Hometown Throwdown as well?
