beaver lake knowledge
Just got a Rogue. Need to practice on flat water. Where is a good place to go on Beaver lake, without too much traffic or people. Especially with the drought. Thanks.

Re: beaver lake knowledge
I do not know where you are coming from, but I know most of the put-ins on the lake as I have sea kayaked most of it from way south of HW-412 to Beaver Dam on both sides and all the coves.
Personally, I think that the cove here at Monte Ne is nice and quiet, enough so that I help folks learn how to roll here. I am a little biased as I live here, but I do know of several other places that you could use and get to. Paddled over 600 miles on it year before last and maybe that much more since then.
Go east from I-540 on New Hope Road about 9 miles like you are going to Horseshoe Bend State Park and then go straight on HW94 Spur instead of turning left to the park at the bottom of the hill by the Monte Ne Chicken restaurant. Go straight until the road ends at a free landing in less than a mile.
I will not be around tomorrow, but will be back Sunday if you want to talk. Can't paddle as I had rotator cuff surgery Tuesday. 721-9101. Got three maps of lake and it is much less painful for me to talk than type right now. You could call tonight until 10PM.
Pardon my curiosity - Rogue canoe or New Wave Rogue kayak? I had one of the kayaks and know how to outfit them for a custom fit. If you need advice, foam, glue, or duct tape, call me after 8PM tomorrow night, or Sunday afternoon. If you are working on a roll, be aware that I will be on shore ONLY and NOT in the water helping you, although I could coach someone from shore if you bring someone. I had rotator cuff surgery to shoulder Tuesday and am still on restrictions with 4 slits in my shoulder and my arm bound up in a sling/brace combination. And yes, everyone has been reading me the riot act. Had 5 tendons worked on and a spur removed and will be a one armed bandit for a while.

Thank you very much for the reply Eric. I live in Centerton so Monte Ne is great for me. I've the Jackson Rogue 10 kayak. Only kayaked twice on rentals, so I know I need a lot of practice and any advice would be very much appreciated. I will undoubtably and unintentionally practice on the roll. As far as dedicated practicing the roll. That's another day. Learning the basics now. Watched Ken Whiting's video and read books a million times. I'm sure I'll have more questions. Hope your shoulder gets better soon.
