Lowest you've paddled Dragover

Post by Louiscov » Wed May 30, 2012 2:21 pm

Hi paddle gang:

Saturday 26th I paddled Dragover loop in my Torrent sit-on-top at 1.5 ft, probably 20 cfs.The boat rides high in the water but I HAD to get out of the boat and wade 4 times, probably should have another time. I enjoyed honing some strokes so I'm glad I went.

What is the lowest some of you have paddled Dragover? I was thinking I had fished it at under 1.0 ft but I know I've never dragged that much. Somewhere I've read that it was OK down to 100 cfs with a little dragging, but I would NOT want to go any lower than 1.5 no matter what, and a canoe would have been miserable to paddle at 1.5

Whatcha got on this? Thanks.

Louis,

1.5ft. is the lowest for me. Marlo and I had taken rec. boats that day and were just able to make it without grinding to a halt on any of the shoals. I've floated it at 2 ft. fishing many times and that's a bit better.

Best Regards
Jim

P.S. was the tree still blocking the take-out ramp?

Thanks, Jim. I hoped I'd hear from you on this question.

I just would not want to paddle the loop at under 1.5 either. I got "stuck" about 100 yards above Big Rock, just below it, a ways below Big Rock where the river gets so shallow as it turns slightly right, and a little ways above the take-out, after the last shoal/rapid.

The take-out ramp was all clear of any trees or blockage.

Hope to paddle with you sometime this summer,

1.8 feet in my RPM max, etc. 2.0 is better.

Have been outrun by a group of young ladies paddling air mattresses. It's easier to portage an air mattress than a 16' Buffalo canoe. The paddling sucked but the scenery was great. :drool2:
