Top 10 things at canoe school...(whitewater school)

Post by T Yamashita » Sun May 06, 2012 8:17 pm

Here's my top ten for this year...

1. Great attitude from all those that came and made it happen, in a low water year!

2. The out going directors - Marc and patti.

3. The new guys who will keep it happenin'.

4. Ron and grant who found us moving water on both days where no one else was and the participants who trusted us.

5. The shuttle crew.

6. The catfish crew who persevered and made great fish, chicken, and other fried things.
And the pancake crew.

7. The strawberry cobbler.

8. The short board meeting.

9. All the guys who trekked to the kings river and left the mulberry to the rest of us.

10. Brad for letting us take over Turner Bend.

Post up your list.

Number 1:

All those who drove to and from Kings River on Sat and left the entire Shores Lake open to our class for a full day of intense skill building drills.

Number 2: A super great group of advanced students who saw the benefit of working hard on skill building drills on a secluded lake rather than driving 3 hours or more to float down a beautiful but class 1 stream.

Number 3 thru 10: your choice from T's excellent list, no need for me to repeat!

10. Just being in the Valley of Love,

whipperwill in the dawn
pretty soon he'll be gone
and he's got just one good song to sing

but like my daddy said,
you only live till your dead
and you've got to sing and sing and sing!

I can't really add much to what has already been said. I don't know that I have ever been in a group that large, and every single person I met been as helpful, considerate, and in good spirits despite the low water level.

I would like to thank Dave, Vernon, and Al for elevating my game several notches.
I'm almost glad we were forced to flat water work. I don't think I could have learned more even if the Mulberry was running at optimum levels.

I also want to thank Dave Renfro for letting me spend so much time in his boat.

Rodney Center for camping next to me and helping me at camp while I was so busy with all the activities and classes.

Oh yeah, and WINNING A FREAKIN DAGGER NOMAD!!!

I'm still in a state of disbelief. Thanks to Ozark Mountain Trading Company for donating it, and all the other sponsors for their donations.
I think most people that attended own a share of this boat, and I promise to wear it out. If anyone wants to paddle it, they are more than welcome to.

It was an incredible weekend, and I am still in an afterglow.

Yeah, that would be in my top 10 if it every happened. If I ever win a boat, I'll have already paid retail price for it over the past 15 years.

Love donating my raffle money to the ACC tho,
Fish

It had to be! For some unknown reason, I tossed my XXL cockpit spray skirt in the truck. Even tho I was paddling my faithful old school RPM Max.

At breakfast, Ken allowed OOO did not have a XXL spray skirt on site so he could not get the new boat wet. I just smiled and handed him the spray skirt I had stashed in the back of my truck.

Ken and that Nomad on our run Sunday looked like they were made for each other. All those drills we did Saturday were effortlessly done for real as we moved down the river. An ideal boat!!!

Ken was all smiles, making the moves and looking totally relaxed in his new boat.

I am looking forward to the opportunity to see Ken clean the Cossatot in that Nomad.

Me and you Fish, when it comes to winning boat raffles. On the other hand, instruction is one of the really neat things our Club does for the sport. So win or lose the boat, like you I am glad to buy tickets each year.

And on Saturday, the NW Chapter fired up their fryers and said "Let there be hushpuppies" And there was merriment and beverages. And boating geekery. And the supermoon and the tall pines and the car alarms agreed that all was good.
