USGS Ponca gauge: stuck?
Went up yesterday thinking we had 3.6 or so, did not look at the graph. The graph shows the same level for a week. ????

Re: USGS Ponca gauge: stuck?
Does anybody have the "inches of air space to gauge height" conversion table?
If I call BOC or anybody up there and they tell me 18" of air space, that doesn't tell me anything. Yes, I realize that makes me sound like a Buffalo River newb. My first float up there was in 78. ??

2.5 on the USGS correlates to 24 inches of airspace.

Just got back from running Ponca to Kyles. It was boney but doable. Didn't have to drag once. I saw the gauge at 3.31 and thought it would be much better. It must be stuck, was more like 2.5/2.7.

I say, and I intend it emphatically, let the river be.

Low but "floatable" if you can put your boat where it needs to be.

I don't know exactly, but 12 inches air is good water. Even 18 inches can be fun. I run this section ALOT, because it's close to home. Last week I played around between Ponca and Steel Creek--18 inches. If I had my Mohawk, I could've surfed.
