Re: WTB: White Water (SOT) Kayak
Last White water set on top kayak I can remember was from New Wave and New Wave went out of production some years ago.
Finding a WW SOT might be difficult.

I hope you get lucky. I heard some good things about the New Wave WW SOT. In fact at one time I saw one in AR. If you find one, be sure to give us a review.

Re: WTB: White Water (SOT) Kayak
The New Wave creeker SOT was called the Buzz - 25.5" wide 39 pounds 10'5" long, 140-240 recommended load range. I read it had a lot of rocker and was deeper and narrower than most other SOT's. There was one for sale on Craigslist in California 3 weeks ago for $200. http://stockton.craigslist.org/boa/2806512374.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Liquid Logic Coupe was said to be better in the reviews I read, but I have never paddled a SOT. Sierrasouth.com has 4 of them in their boat barn for $399 in A and B condition in 3 colors.
There are some Perception Torrents for sale in Asheville, and Winston Salem,NC on Craigslist if you know anyone going that way and coming back.
Let me know if you want the links from Paddleswap.com

When I get back from Mardi Gras, I'm picking up a new lime green LL Coupe at OOO. I've never been on a SOT but have my limit (is there such a thing??) of LL Remix XP10's and wanted another boat. I wanted a skeg & I think the Coupe is the only SOT with a skeg. Good luck in your search. I've watched LouisCov with his SOT, and he seems to enjoy it a lot.
ktmusa45, where have you taken your Coupe? I'm not planning to do anything more than Big Piney or the rivers out of Eminence MO. Spring River & the Buffy will prolly be where I use it most.

Re: WTB: White Water (SOT) Kayak
The New Wave Buzz was a SOT made for creeking. It probably had more rocker than any boat before or since. My Ex used to paddle one, and she could roll it about 50% of the time. Super heavy. It was alright, for what it was.
Prijon had the Twister. Basicly it was the SOT version of the Hurricane. Easy to roll, it also surfed and squirted. I saw one of these on Boatertalk not long ago for sale.
I've seen people roll a Dagger Torrent, and seen some video of guys running them down the Green. That said, the people who were doing those tricks were pretty awsome boaters.
I'd say that for learning, that the Twister is going to paddle most like a decked boat, and offer you more options in your paddling. The Torrent will be user friendly, but limit how far you might want to climb in the whitewater aspect of your paddling. Which one you have more fun with is totally up to you.
Good Luck

I mainly just play down the Mulberry.
We are making plans to try the Cossatot this year.
Anyone have reviews on the Cossatot River?
Thanks.

I have a Perception Torrent that I was thinking of selling this spring.
They recently started making them again, but mine is several years old. I bought it used three years ago. It is in excellent shape. You can google reviews. Mine is yellow.

Beautiful river, great place to be. If it comes up on a weekend, other boaters will be there; it is a good river to run in the company of others who can advise you on best lines, as that will save you much time spent scouting from the bank.lpowell wrote:Anyone have reviews on the Cossatot River?
The name comes from a native american word for "skull crusher". Every once in awhile, we get reminded of why.
