Is the top picture from Gulpha and just a very short distance from the Ridgeway Road put-in, with the railroad embankment just out of the right side of the picture?
If so, it can be run way lower than that!

Yeah. That's the pinch spot. Not sure if yall named it or not. It is the same spot of the boater in the photo on the first post. It was around 4.2, so however you want to correlate that... Optimal?
As you mentioned in a previous post.. the water under the bridge allowed a boater to pass and not get hung up. pray for rain.
I was driving around yesterday and was wondering if folks run the roxky creek and waterfall near Y city and the creek at Big Brushy campground... both look sweet
Looking forward to boating with you guys soon!

Looked at the bridge today when gauge was 4.1 and you could not get a boat through. I am going with 4.2 to 4.5 is a good level. Cheers. jamie
thinking of going to the tot over the weekend.. any takers?

Several folks have run East Gulpha, me included. Our group of three had three swimmers at the same down tree we all went under. It was nasty brushy for a stretch. We started at the bridge upstream of the ball fields. Don't go above that - REAL BAD WILLOW JUNGLE WITH BARBED WIRE HAZARDS! There's not much attraction to the run.
I like Gulpha lower than what your photos show, but I'm kind of a minimal flow guy.
Thanks for the data.

Jamie,
I ran Big Brushy Creek at the end of May this year. Put in at the first dirt road upstream from the campground that l could find. Paddled a short distance and the creek ended up splitting into three branches, therefore making it boney. They rejoined a short distance upstream of the first camp spot. Should have put in there and ventured down stream but had another creek to run before it got dark that day.

JackH & i ran from the cemetery off hwy70 down last year.not worth running it,or cleaning it to run.Highlights of the trip included a dozen+ portages, fish jumping down Jacks pfd, massive root system sieves,&barbwire. There are a few cool rapids if you put-in below the bypass on the way to the ballpark but it's best to have a beer/pitcher with every lap on gulpha/mill.You'll want to take the playboat when it gets big,it just gets better.get in touch with me razorback.i've heard you've been visiting more than just my local creeks around here.

Ran Gulpha yesterday with Razorback and another guy..the first time was about 4.45 and was perfect..second run about an hour and a half later was closer to 4.35 and was definitely starting to get a little bony..others say it can be run at 4.2 but I really doubt how enjoyable it would be! I'd put optimal starting at 4.4...there are a few trees blocking some fun waves that could easily be taken care of with a small folding hand saw..all in all a super fun day!
